Twelve. Twenty One. Twelve

Personally I don't believe the world will be ending this Friday. Although, in light of all the Mayan Calender 12.21.12 Phenomena, it's got me thinking what if. Now we could go around and around about how the world won't be ending Friday or will be, but just to humor myself...

This is how my "The Day Before The End Of The World" would go in my perfect little world

 

 

12.20.2012

 

8:00am-  Sleep

9:00am- Wake up ALONE and enjoy a cup of coffee

10:00am- Get the girls up

10:30am- Make a big platter of pancakes, and let the girls have the sugar syrup this time

11:00am- Go to Silver Dollar City and let the girls ride every ride they want over and over again! (I'd hope it wouldn't be as busy since it's the day before the end of the world and all)

5:00pm- Big family "last" supper, mine would be pizza (stuffed crust of course) with lots of ranch and I think the girls wouldn't mind that for their last supper either. All of our close family members eating and enjoying each other, sounds good to me!

7:00pm- Lots of cuddling with the girls, watching home videos and reading books in bed

9:00pm- Bedtime, I think this night would be the perfect night to let the "you sleep in your own bed" rule to go out the window.

9:15pm- Blissful sleeping...

 

 

There you have it, nothing extravagant. Just making both my girls happy would be perfect for me. How would you spend your "Day Before The End Of The World"?



 



 

A Poncho Day

First of all, let me take a moment to express how deeply saddened I am to hear about the tragedy in Connecticut. I don't even want to imagine what those families are going through, many thoughts and prayers going out to them.

 

Today we had a poncho day. I was lucky enough a year ago to have found this awesome poncho out thrifting for 4 dollars! But, I am kicking myself because there were two (one in another color) and I only grabbed this one. I hate when I pass something great up at the thrift and then get home and say... "I should have got that!!" It happens to me quite often actually. The poncho Miss Mally is wearing is one I made from the DIY Beanie Sweater. All I did to make it was cut the sleeves off and sew down a quarter of the way, super easy! Miss Chesa is wearing a Starting Out brand doggie poncho found at a garage sale a couple years back.

 

Also, I want to mention that I love reading all your comments and I am still in the process to responding to each of them and checking out all of your blogs :)

Simple Exfoliating Facial

Morning all!

Today we have plans to go out on the town and celebrate one of our friends 25th birthday! So excited about this, this momma needs a break! I love my girls, but it's alright to give yourself that time so you can keep your insanity sometimes, well that's how I feel anyway ha ha.

 

I want to do a quick post on my go to exfoliating facial. 2 ingredients and super easy, leaves your face soft and glowing!

 

 

*What you need*
Baking Soda
Orange
Spoon
Bowl

Place a bit of Baking Soda into bowl
I don't measure anything, I just add as needed

Squeeze a bit of orange juice in and mix

Keep adding juice until at the right consistency
I make mine a bit thicker

Put on face and let dry (about 10-15 minutes)
After dry wet fingertips and scrub, this will remove dead skin
Rinse with warm water
I like to rinse with cold water afterwards

Left is before (sorry a bit blurry)
Right is after
Make sure you put your moisturizer on afterwards!

DIY Beanie Tutorial

 

How to make ⇧that beanie
From ⇩ this sweater








*What you need*
Old sweater (thrifted this XL sweater for $3.00)
Fabric glue or needle and thread
Measuring tape
Scissors



First measure how long you want your beanie to be
I made mine a bit slouchy so I measured 10 inches
Also, be sure to leave at least 1 inch for gluing/ sewing



Cut across

 

Cut a side seam to make 1 long piece

 

Measure the circumference of your head
Take your measurement and cut your fabric

 

Fold your fabric like so



While still folded
Cut the top of the fabric in a curve shape
Unfold

Fold in half with the inside of the beanie facing outward

Glue/sew together the edges
(glue will be placed on the outside of the beanie)
Let dry

Reuse It Before You Lose It!

 

Many of us question how much of a positive impact one individual’s eco friendly efforts can really have on the world we live in. Yet, if we all bury our heads in the sand and assume the responsibility for our environment sits squarely on another’s shoulders, the earth’s future really will be compromised. We all need to become accountable for our own little patch of the planet and in doing so become collectively responsible for ensuring a positive impact for the greater good. 

 

 

Being more environmentally friendly needn’t necessitate drastic lifestyle changes. Good green habits can soon become second nature. Energy savings are easily made from everyday activities – such as not leaving the tap running while brushing your teeth. These small steps form healthy habits and impact positively on the world around you.

 

Recycling

One of the most effective ways of recycling is to consider whether something really is rubbish; after all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Your unwanted items can be freely advertised and are bound to be snapped up by someone else. You may even make a little money out of it. Donate kids clothes, books and toys to charitable organisations or a nearby pre-school. Rather than lugging your old lumber to the local dump, why not set up a stall at a car boot sale?

 

Of course you needn’t limit yourself to hearth and home when it comes to recycling. Set your sights outside too. Your garden can create vast amounts of waste, so why not compost your own little corner of the country? The products of all that pruning, picking and plucking need to go somewhere.

 

As well as old flowers, nettles and grass cuttings from the garden, you can also compost a variety of household waste products, such as coffee grounds, tea bags and vegetable peelings. Your garden will thrive on the best bits of your bin as you create a constant source of nutrient rich food to dig into the soil.

 

You’ll find your garden benefits by being naturally robust and vigorous because of the well-balanced nutrients provided by the compost. Composting is a great way of getting closer to nature and allows you to get involved with the natural cycle of life. Choosing to do your bit by creating less waste and keeping your patch of the planet pretty for generations to come is a great decision and one which will send the right message to any little ones you have running around. Not only that, but you could find yourself saving a tidy sum of money too – win, win!
